Noddy was created by Enid Blyton in 1949 as has been consistently popular ever since, appearing in not only books, but as toys, TV shows and DVDs.

Noddy is a little wooden boy who lives in Toytown. His best friend is Big Ears who is a brownie (a sort of elf). Noddy is a kind soul who always tries to help people out. Noddy has a little yellow car which he drives around Toytown rather carelessly, but is always happy to give people a lift if necessary.

He often gets into trouble with Mr. Plod, the town’s policeman, sometimes for driving his car too fast, however he is sometimes accused of things he did not do. The town’s villains are two goblins, Sly and Gobbo (golliwogs no longer appear in the stories).

The other residents of Toytown include Bumpy Dog, Tessie Bear, Mt Jumbo, the Skittles family and the Tubby Bears. New characters who have been introduced to the TV series include Dinah Doll, Mr Sparks and Twinkly the Star.
