Lazytown is the creation of Icelandic gymnast Magnus Scheving who stars in the series as Sportacus.

Lazytown is the name of a town where a girl called Stephanie comes to live. She discovers that all the other children in the town never play outside, spend all day playing computer games, watching TV and eating sweets and junk food.

Stephanie’s friends in the town are Pixel, Stingy, Ziggy and Trixie. Stephanie is played by American actress Julianna Rose Mauriello, however her friends in Lazytown are all puppets.

In a bid to persuade the children of Lazytown to become more active and to eat more healthily Stephanie enlists the help of Sportacus. Sportacus loves sport and lives in an airship, from which he can see the whole of Lazytown, and see if there is any trouble that he can help sort out.

He encourages the children to play outside, take part in sports and to eat ‘Sports Candy’ – his name for fruit and vegetables. However his attempts are hampered by Lazytown’s resident bad guy, Robbie Rotten, who tries to get the children to take less exercise, eat bad food and to get Sportacus banished from Lazytown. Fortunately his attempts are usually thwarted by Stephanie and her friends.
